Bifidobacterium bifidum

About B. bifidum

B. bifdium is a bacteria belonging to the genus Bifidobacterium which are Gram-positive, non-motile, often branched anaerobic bacteria inhabiting the gastrointestinal tract and vagina.

Possible Benefits:

A study published in the Annals of Tropical Pediatrics found that Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium bifidum stored at ambient temperature were effective in the treatment of acute diarrhoea.

Another study published in the International Journal of Food Microbiology found that treatment with Bifidobacterium bifidum 17 partially protected mice from Th1-driven inflammation in a chemically induced model of colitis. In other words, B. bifidum was able to protect mice from chemically induced inflammatory bowel disease.
